Series I. Personal Papers -- (1909) 1929-1979 contains papers related to the engineering career of Simon's father, Arthur; diaries, appointment books and family documents of Herbert Simon; and security reports on Simon by the FBI and IRS. Represented are daily planners, diaries, drawings, and other items. Materials related to Arthur Simon include applications, articles, awards, biographical materials, correspondence, papers, patent reports, and photographs. The series also houses Simon's government security reports, and contains Simon's first published work, the 1949 newspaper editorial, "Thoughts on Evolution." The series comprises one box (1 cu. ft.).
