The Allen Newell Collection represents the work of a pioneer in the fields of artificial intelligence and cognitive science. It is a rare opportunity to be able to browse through the papers of a renown scientist whose work has had such a major influence on the state of the field today.
The University Libraries' effort to scan the Newell papers is provided by an IMLS Grant, with generous support from Mrs. Noël Marie Newell. The goal of this grant is to create Smart Web Exhibits in conjunction with the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
We hope you find the Allen Newell Collection to be noteworthy, interesting, and helpful with your research. We also hope you will develop an appreciation for a man who left an important mark on this institution and whose influence continues today.
